Heaven's Door |
|
The Setting The set is totally white. Its kind of like a waiting area you would expect to see in an ICU hospital unit. All furniture is white: theres a plastic white sofa in the middle of the stage with white plastic cushioned chairs on either side of the sofa. Theres a white coffee table in front of the sofa. The walls, white no pictures. There is a white vending machine, glass front to see the products, against the upstage left wall. Next to the vending machine, further upstage left, is a small refrigerator with all white handles. There is a door in the middle of the back wall. This door could be ornately GOLD after all it does lead to heaven. It should make a rumbling sound when it slides open and a solid thud when it slides shut. White lights should flood the stage from this door each time it is opened the lights shouldnt be as extreme as to blind. There could be a small cloud effect each time the door opens as well (using dry ice in water) again just a slight amount for the effect of the beyond, not to fill the stage. To the right of the door is an intercom. Presumably you can talk to someone (God) on the other side of the door by talking into the intercom. Downstage left is the corridor which reaches this room. Each cast member must enter (the stage) heavens entry room via this corridor. (They go down the corridor to use the rest rooms.) There are numerous cupboards built in the walls. FREDDIE is unafraid to search in these cupboards and pull out what he feels will spruce up the room. Including a bolt of the most shocking pink fabric on planet earth. The set undergoes a major transformation to gayness between Acts 1 and 2 as Freddie reasons: it takes a gay guy to accessorize. The Freddie-redecorated set should include: a huge statue of David, gaudy large gold frames featuring portraits of: Cher, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli, Dianna Ross maybe splashy overly large pillows for the sofa and chairs Other Settings: (on platforms)
